The Green Line it is the buffer zone, the border between greek and turkish sides of the Cyprus island. The zone runs for more than 180 kilometres and varying between 3 meters and more than 7 kilometres wide. This area is controlled by The United Nations peacekeepers. The military operation in Cyprus was in 1974 and lasted less than one month. But aftermath of this conflict have a strong influence for the local people still. More than 40 years passes after the conflict, but the main city Nikosia still divided by continuous wall and sometimes you can feel that the time is frozen. Thousands of abandoned houses and hotels, kilometers of beautiful deserted beaches in buffer zone - It is a constant reminder that the country remains physically and symbolically divided, it is a silent testimony of old conflict.
